A Luxury In-Frame Kitchen in NW3, Hampstead
Set within a substantial Victorian terraced house in NW3, this project was designed to create a generous, light-filled family kitchen that balances classic detailing with contemporary refinement.
The bespoke kitchen cabinetry is traditional in-frame construction, hand-painted in Cornforth White by Farrow & Ball. The in-frame construction gives the kitchen a more substantial, furniture-like quality, with doors set within a fixed frame for strength and longevity. At the centre, the island is finished in Stiffkey Blue, introducing contrast and anchoring the room with confidence. This pairing of Cornforth White and Stiffkey Blue creates a timeless palette suited to a Victorian home in Hampstead, while still delivering a clearly contemporary kitchen aesthetic.
The island is topped in Bianco Eclipse quartzite, selected for its durability and natural veining. The stone continues down to the floor at either end of the island, framing the cabinetry and adding visual weight. It transforms the island from a simple unit into a defining feature within the space.
The main cooking elevation is carefully composed. Glazed cabinets positioned either side of the extractor introduce symmetry and warmth, particularly when illuminated in the evening. Between them sits a Lacanche Cluny range cooker in brass and stainless steel by Lacanche, chosen for both performance and presence. Above, a Westin extractor is integrated seamlessly into the joinery, maintaining clean lines.
Storage has been designed with family living in mind. A dedicated pantry cabinet provides space for organising the kitchen essentials, while an undercounter Caple wine fridge sits neatly into the design.
The quality of the joinery is central to this luxury kitchen in Hampstead. Solid oak cabinet interiors and dovetailed solid oak drawers demonstrate a commitment to craftsmanship that extends beyond what is immediately visible. In-frame cabinetry requires precision in manufacture and installation; every door sits within a fixed frame, demanding accuracy and care at every stage. The result is a kitchen built not just for aesthetic appeal, but for longevity.
Polished nickel 32mm Kingsheath knobs by Armac Martin add subtle detailing to the painted cabinetry, while a Perrin & Rowe tap by Perrin & Rowe completes the sink area with understated refinement.
This contemporary in-frame kitchen in NW3 demonstrates how traditional joinery, natural stone and considered detailing can come together to create a truly bespoke luxury kitchen in Hampstead. It is a modern family kitchen space, built around craftsmanship, proportion and materials designed to endure.
