London Zoo is running a giant egg hunt throughout the school holidays from 7 to 22 April. Collect your trail guide at the main gates and use the clues to track down the hidden. Entrance to the zoo costs £10 adults, £7 children

2.       Kenwood House  NW3

Set in leafy grounds beside Hampstead Heath, a trail is being laid around the gardens of English Heritage building Kenwood House. Running from 11am to 4pm, Good Friday to Easter Monday, the trail costs £1 per child.

3. Kew Gardens, Richmond TW9

Chocolate is growing on trees at these famous gardens with an entire Chocolate Sculpture Garden, Easter egg hunts, chocolate making and tasting workshops and tokens from the Kew Easter bunny. Visit web site for times and prices. Entry adults £13.90/kids free (Apr 9-May 2)

4. Kensington Gardens, W8

Join the Ramblers Association on a family-friendly stroll around the beautiful park in search of something the Easter bunny’s hidden. 11am, free (Apr 19)

5.       Imperial War Museum SE1

In amongst all the guns, tanks and bayonets, will be an altogether sweeter proposition at the Imperial War Museum. Kids can explore the museum for free as they hunt out a fair trade Easter egg any day from 31 March to 15 April.
