In the manufacturing of furniture veneer refers to thin slices of wood, usually thinner than 3 mm, that are typically glued onto core panels typically, wood, particle board or MDF to produce flat panels which are then machined to make parts of furniture, veneer is also used in marquetry where by different shades of wood veneer are laid out to make a pattern.
