MFC stands for Melamine Faced Chipboard or MF - (MDF) Melamine Faced - Medium Density Fibre Board. Melamine is a man made laminated material which can represent a colour or image of a natural material, it is widely used in the furniture industry for its strength and long lasting properties, it is ideal for kitchens, wardrobes and bathrooms.

In the manufacturing of furniture veneer refers to thin slices of wood, usually thinner than 3 mm, that are typically glued onto core panels typically, wood, particle board or MDF to produce flat panels which are then machined to make parts of furniture, veneer is also used in marquetry where by different shades of wood veneer are laid out to make a pattern.
